Yeast infections are sometimes caused by what we eat. But more typically they are the result of other factors:
- taking antibiotics
- stress which induces hormonal and other changes
That said, there are several big dietary choices available to you every day that can certainly help mitigate or reduce the problem:
- less sugar, including juice and most fruit
- less alcohol
- less refined carbs – white bread, pasta, noodles, tortillas, crackers
- less dairy
- more fresh and raw food, especially greens
- more pure water
The reason is simple: Candida loves acid. More specifically, it thrives in an acidic environment (as does most all disease and pathogens). All those things listed above that you need to cut back on are acidic (or acid-producing). All the others are alkaline. And please don’t think antacids will somehow help or provide a shortcut. They won’t, for reasons too complex to cover here. Maybe in a later posting.
These are general rules. If you want more details about what are alkaline and what are acidic foods, search the Web for a list. There are a lot of good ones out there. They may vary a bit but, for the most part, they agree.
So, with growing awareness that refined food and sugar is to be avoided and whole and fresh and especially organic food is good, many people are already doing a lot of things right. I generally dislike the word ‘diet’ because it suggests it’s:
- highly restrictive
- short-term
- hard to stick with
There is a lot about this eating plan that is not diet-like at all. Indeed, you would do well to stick with it the rest of your life. You don’t have to be a saint, but the more closely you adhere to it, the better.
But what you eat almost certainly will not cure your candida issue, depending upon how severe your imbalance is. To FIX your candida, you need to take the steps outlined in this FREE report.
One more thing. Good clean water – not ‘Smart Water’ or ‘Vitamin Water’ (read the label, they have sugar in them) – does not include distilled or reverse osmosis water. These waters are quite acidic in most cases. An explanation of why they are so acidic and a source of one of the best alkaline water sources can be found here.
