While it’s been my experience that you will not usually correct your yeast infections by simple preventative actions, all of the following are good lifestyle changes you will benefit from as you will slow its growth.  And these actions will help keep the condition from returning once you have fixed it using my recommended solution. 

• avoid dairy products (with one exception – see below)
• avoid refined carbs: sugar (and fruit juice, till you’re clear), white flour and alcohol
• avoid antibiotic drugs, even topicals, if possible
• eat lots of fresh vegetables, especially greens like salads and cucumbers
• eat immune-boosting foods and herbs like garlic and echinacea
• drink plenty of fresh water (alkaline ionized water is even better)
• exercise (sweat those toxins out, plus it helps reduce your stress hormones)

They say these things come in 3’s.  In this case:  The death of men with integrity.  Who tell it like it is.  To thine ownselves, they were true.  First, Tim Russert.  Now, George Carlin.  Many disagreed with what they said or where they stood, but people respected them.  And people listened because they always had something interesting to say.

While I may never reach the lofty altitude of those two, I do strive for the same goals.  Useful information presented with Integrity.  That’s why, for instance, I’m outside the mainstream when I report that yeast infections can be cured with nutrition and lifestyle changes.  Like many other things you will read in this space, it may run against grain.  Mainstream thinking is slow to change in light of evidence that says the emperor has no clothes.  Some are ruled by fear, others exploit that human trait and choose to rule others with fear.  I will never let fear stand in the way of getting the truth out.  You can trust me to always give it to you straight.  Just like Tim and (the other) George.

This is very timely because it involves someone we all felt we knew, if not personally.  And it focuses the harsh light of public scrutiny on Western medicine, or the medical-pharmaceutical complex, as some have dubbed it.  In an excellent article in Natural News Western Medicine Fails Tim Russert, Byron Richards (Board-Certified Clinical Nutritionist, nationally-renowned nutrition expert, and founder of Wellness Resources) says if Russert were able, he himself would be asking some tough questions about why he died.

So far, his doctor has not shared details of how Russert was being treated.  The same doctor was surprised that the autopsy revealed clogged arteries or that his heart was enlarged, despite his having been obese for years.  Was Russert, a diabetic for years, on Avandia, a drug known to significantly increase your chances of having a heart attack?  Was he being treated with statins (cholesterol-lowering drugs) whose chronic use caused a weakening of the heart?

This is a reminder that Western medicine all too often fails to improve one’s chronic health conditions; at best it will slow the rate of decline, postponing what they deem to be the inevitable.  Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) offers a much better record in many cases and without much of the expense, risks or detrimental side effects.  Please read the article for the number of good points it raises but a big point it makes: This should be a real wake-up call to men (and women) who think they can continue to neglect their health, let their weight continue to rise, eat poorly, not get enough exercise and think the good doctors and his pills will save you – from yourself.

A recent piece posted on Mike Adams’ Natural News serves as a reminder that the form of contraception you choose can indeed aggravate your candida issue.  (Numerous sources echo this including this FDA consumer bulletin.)  Of course, the primary focus of the article – the way BCPs lower libido – is also a strong incentive to look into alternatives that are perhaps not as convenient but whose side effects may be more acceptable in the tradeoff.

Believe it or not, the toxins produced by elevated levels of candida in your body can make you feel drunk.  Remember the other word for ‘drunk’ ?  Intoxicated.  Yes, it’s those toxins from alcohol that make you feel the way you do when drinking.  Similarly, candida produces alcohol and acetaldehyde which can affect levels of neurotransmitters like dopamine in your brain causing you to feel:

(This post refers to my previous post on this subject.)  I’ve since learned that the ‘cell phones popping popcorn’ videos that have been posted on YouTube (and other websites) have been rigged.  While it’s still true that radiation from the phones was required to actually pop the corn, the kernels weren’t ‘cold’.  It seems they’d already been cooked first, just to the brink of popping.  That made the videos misleading because it suggested that all the radiation necessary to pop ‘cold’ kernels in seconds came entirely from the phones.  So, my apologies. 

Still, can you see how radiation from cell phones is being absorbed by the popcorn – just like the radiation from a microwave oven – to make the corn pop?  That remains a powerful reminder of what cell phones are doing to our tissue every time we use them.  And while it’s true, the corn didn’t get popped in seconds from that burst of energy from the phones, you do talk on the phone a lot longer than a few seconds.  So, how can there be any doubt that damage is done to tissue in those hours of exposure, especially when you consider it’s delicate brain tissue we’re talking about?

Some cell phone safety tips:

• Keep use to a minimum.  We all talk on the phone too much.  This truly gives new meaning to the term “mindless blabbering”.  Talking on a corded phone is much safer, when you can.
• Don’t wear your phone on your body.  Even when you’re not talking on it, every 10-15 seconds it sends out a signal to the cell network checking for calls.
• Wear a headset, preferably corded because Bluetooth creates its own radiation.
• Get a protection device for your phone ASAP.

You don’t want to go without some form of cell phone protection when it’s so inexpensive.  I make sure that I have one and so do the ones I love.  Years from now, I don’t want to hear the manufacturers say, “sorry, we didn’t know.”  That’s what they did in the 1950’s after a form of x-ray machines were installed in shoe stores to show the bones in your feet.  No one knew then that tissue damage was occurring because of the high -and unnecessary – doses of radiation people were being subjected to.  And we were told that was harmless, too.
