(This post refers to my previous post on this subject.)  I’ve since learned that the ‘cell phones popping popcorn’ videos that have been posted on YouTube (and other websites) have been rigged.  While it’s still true that radiation from the phones was required to actually pop the corn, the kernels weren’t ‘cold’.  It seems they’d already been cooked first, just to the brink of popping.  That made the videos misleading because it suggested that all the radiation necessary to pop ‘cold’ kernels in seconds came entirely from the phones.  So, my apologies. 

Still, can you see how radiation from cell phones is being absorbed by the popcorn – just like the radiation from a microwave oven – to make the corn pop?  That remains a powerful reminder of what cell phones are doing to our tissue every time we use them.  And while it’s true, the corn didn’t get popped in seconds from that burst of energy from the phones, you do talk on the phone a lot longer than a few seconds.  So, how can there be any doubt that damage is done to tissue in those hours of exposure, especially when you consider it’s delicate brain tissue we’re talking about?

I’m not one for hype.  So why would I say this truly is a MUST-SEE video?  It clearly and instantly shows the dangers of cell phones.  Just 3 cell phones put out so much radiation they pop corn in seconds!  It takes a microwave oven a minute or more.  This is a devastating blow to the safety claims cell phone manufacturers have made for decades now.  They have always said that the electromagnetic frequency radiation (EMF, for short) given off by cell phones is harmless.  If cell phones can cook food in seconds – many times faster than a microwave oven - what are they doing to your brain when you talk on them for hours?! 

Some cell phone safety tips:

• Keep use to a minimum.  We all talk on the phone too much.  This truly gives new meaning to the term “mindless blabbering”.  Talking on a corded phone is much safer, when you can.
• Don’t wear your phone on your body.  Even when you’re not talking on it, every 10-15 seconds it sends out a signal to the cell network checking for calls.
• Wear a headset, preferably corded because Bluetooth creates its own radiation.
• Get a protection device for your phone ASAP.

You don’t want to go without some form of cell phone protection when it’s so inexpensive.  I make sure that I have one and so do the ones I love.  Years from now, I don’t want to hear the manufacturers say, “sorry, we didn’t know.”  That’s what they did in the 1950’s after a form of x-ray machines were installed in shoe stores to show the bones in your feet.  No one knew then that tissue damage was occurring because of the high -and unnecessary – doses of radiation people were being subjected to.  And we were told that was harmless, too. 

The same goes for cigarettes.  And I could go on but you get the picture.  Big business will say whatever they can get away with to sell products.  (That’s one reason so many laws are on the books, you libertarians, because business won’t regulate itself, not because legislators just like to write laws.)  At least until damning evidence stops them cold.  That’s what makes this simple video demonstration so devastating.  Watch it and pass it on!  Then be sure to get cell phone protection for yourself.
